When it comes to painting kids’ rooms, there are several different schools of thought. A child’s room should be a place where they enjoy spending their time, but which integrates with the rest of the house.

All American Painting Plus has painted a lot of kids rooms in our day. It’s an important part of residential painting. Here are some of the best ways you can approach this precious paint job.

Some parents like to pull out all the stops when it comes to painting a kids room, and some get quite elaborate. While others might be content to paint the walls in bright, cheerful colors, you may want to turn the walls into murals with happy animals and dreamlike vistas. In the end, there’s not much downside to either option. Cartoonish wall colors and scenes may be temporary (your kid won’t probably won’t feel the same way about them when he is 15), in which case it doesn’t take much time or money to paint over them. Or you can decide to leave the childhood paint job in place forever, enshrining a physical remnant of childhood days. Whatever you choose, fantastical color schemes can be the perfect fit for a child’s room. Let it be an option.
Colorful But Integrated. Not everyone wants to turn the nursery into a kaleidoscopic ocular fantasia unrelated to the wall and design colors throughout the rest of the house. In this case, choose colors that might appeal to a child, but which have a relationship to the colors you’ve already chosen for the rest of your house. If you have a bathroom with soft blue walls, perhaps a more saturated blue would be a good fit for the child’s room. Another option would be to have plain walls, bringing colorful elements into the furniture and decorations. Paint isn’t the only way to bring color into a room.
Let the Kid Decide. In some cases, the kid who lives in the room should be the one who decides how it is painted. All American Painting Plus has seen (and repainted) some hot pink bedrooms, and some jet black bedrooms after kids got to make the final call. But we’ve also seen some clever and well-chosen color schemes. You may choose to let your kid design her own room color palette because, at the end of the day, she’s the one who’s got to live in it. Whatever you decide, and whoever makes the final decision, All American Painting Plus will be happy to implement the choice.

It can be a lot of fun to paint a child’s room, especially when the colors chosen are whimsical and entertaining. No matter what colors you choose for your kid’s walls, and no matter who makes the final call, All American Painting Plus will be happy to do the work on your behalf. We are expert painting contractors, bringing a high level of quality to the work we do, even when that work is painting dancing elephants on a wall.
