A message to our customers about COVID-19

Kids’ rooms are markedly different from any other space in your home. These rooms should provide a creative and personal oasis for your children to play, grow, relax, and discover new things. While you might prefer a certain decor for your living room, dining room, kitchen, and master bedroom, you might have to switch gears for the sake of your kids and their needs.

Of course, infants can’t exactly tell you what they want their room to look or feel like in terms of interior painting or decor. But as your kids grow, they might tell you all about their favorite colors, giving you an idea of how to redesign their room. Nothing is set in stone, especially when it comes to kids. Still, let’s go over six fun color schemes for kids’ rooms and nurseries to help you get started with this part of home painting.

1. Blue for All Occasions

Various shades of blue have long been a common choice for both kids’ rooms and nurseries. This might be due to blue’s versatile nature. Darker blues have a soothing effect, helping kids unwind and fall alseep, but brighter shades of blue can also be energizing and encourage focus and creativity. So, while every child has a unique temperament, most kids can appreciate a blue bedroom.

2. Yellow for Happiness and Comfort

While sleep might be the main purpose of a bedroom, a kids’ room is for so much more than shut-eye. If your child enjoys spending playtime in their room, shades of yellow can really liven up the place and induce a comfortable, spirited atmosphere. Professional painters might tell you that yellow is often most effective when mixed in with white or other neutral tones. This creates a positive balance that doesn’t strain the eye too much.

3. Pink for the Youngest Ones

Pink might not be for every child, but it’s a go-to for infants. Many nurseries, both for girls and boys, feature pink hues, as this color can be quite relaxing and encourage sleepytime. Of course, an oversaturation of pink can yield the opposite effect. Plus, as your child grows, they might not be as thrilled with the color pink, so you might have to do some more residential painting in the near future. Fortunately, because it’s a lighter color, pink is usually easy to paint over with a different color of paint.

4. White to Brigthen Things Up

You might argue that white is a shade, not a color. Regardless of these semantics, a white room is timeless and opens the door for countless other decorative possibilities. For instance, with white walls, you can use furniture, accessories, and bedspreads to create whatever color scheme you desire. Plus, white paint brings in plenty of light, brightening up your kids’ room or nursery. Before you choose white, however, make sure you know your kids well. If they’re messy or accident-prone, their room might get visibly marked up in no time.

5. Lavender to Calm Things Down

Like pink hues, light purples like lavender can have a calming effect on your child. As with pink (and yellow), a little goes a long way. You don’t have to paint the entire room purple to get the point across. Some splashes of purple mixed with whites and greys can have a strong outcome.

6. Beige for All Ages

Beige might seem boring at first, but like white shades, beiges allow for plenty of creativity regarding decor. Plus, kids most likely won’t grow out of a beige bedroom as they might a pink, yellow, or purple one. If you want to establish a room for your child that will last them into their teen years, beige is a safe and smart choice.

Your kids are special and unique, and their rooms should reflect that.
