We got involved in this project through the Painting Contractors Association, a painting trade association that focuses on industry standards, elevating the trade as a whole and consumer awareness. It is part of my continuing education and I am proud to be a member.

Fisher Houses can be found at military medical centers. The Fisher House we worked on is part of the Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington DC. The FisherHouse provides accommodations for families of US soldiers during an unexpected illness, disease or injury. Or to say it another way, they essentially provide the comforts of home during a stressful time in these families lives.

When I was asked to participate in this, it was a no brainer. How can you be All American and not support this cause? We painted some common areas and saw a lot of families coming and going. It didn’t take long to see that this place wasn’t an accommodation –  it was a home. Learn more at http://www.pdca.org/ or http://www.fisherhouse.org/.
